We are excited to have the opportunity to work with authors on their book cover design needs. Book cover designs are custom created based on photographic elements and illustrations by a Photoshop artist with more than 12 years of experience. Author input is invaluable. We ask opinions and make changes along the way to achieve the results your book deserves.
To get started all we need is a brief description of the book, main characters, text, and any design preferences. If you have seen a book cover you like, include a link and let us know what caught your eye on the design. If the book will be printed, we will need a template from the printer with the appropriate spine size based on the final page count. Most printers have an application to create these templates. We accept templates in PDF, PNG and PSD formats. Ebooks are created in 5.625 x 8.625 size, unless a different size is requested.
After we have received the book concept, we will email back design and stock photography suggestions. To ensure the best quality of service, we have spent extensive time researching stock providers to find a provider with easy to understand terms, flexibility, competitive pricing and a large selection of professional images.
When the photography has been chosen for the design we will email instructions for creating an account with the stock provider. The images can then be purchased directly by our client and emailed to us. Most stock can be purchased under standard licensing for under $20.00. Purchasing the photography and art for the design in this manner gives all rights for the imagery to the author based on the stock providers terms of use.
Our book cover design fee is $80.00 per hour. This fee is billed in 15 minute ($20.00) increments. Most book cover designs will range from $80.00 to $240.00 depending on the time spent and the complexity of the design. We do not charge royalties on book cover design.
Once the work is complete we will email the finished files. If files are too large to email we will place the files online for downloading. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us for more information or a quote on your book cover design.
Book cover design is a non-refundable service. A $40.00 to $80.00 deposit is required on most book cover orders and must be prepaid before work will begin. Please see our payment page for payment options.
Service Time: First book cover design proof created in 4-5 business days. Additional book cover design proofs can add 1-3 business days of service time.
